Over the course of this internship, I have noticed several strengths and weaknesses within my work style. One major strength is my ability to learn different digital design programs. Whether it is InDesign, Illustrator, Canva, or anything in between, I am willing to learn how to use the program and utilize it to the best of my abilities. This has come with challenges, however because each program is different and requires a different creative mindset. I have learned that creation on InDesign and Canva come somewhat natural to me, but that is not the case with Illustrator and Premiere Pro. These programs have proved to be more intricate and difficult and I have had to teach myself many new skills in these programs over the course of this internship. One new skill that I have learned is how to manipulate and include logos in Premiere Pro, which will be helpful for Georgia 4-H programming and social media posts in the future. Another strength I have realized is my ability to work in teams and across departments on projects. During my internship, I had to work with several other departments to gather information for the magazine and social media posts. One major project was my “Thank you, FACS” video, which I made earlier in the semester. One weakness that I improved on during my internship is understanding of the organization. I have always known how Georgia 4-H runs, but during this internship I have gained a better understanding of the various hands that go into programming and running such a major organization. In order to better prepare myself for future endeavors, I should continue learning how to use the content creation programs while exploring new and emerging forms of creation. All of the programs have annual updates, and there are always competing programs that have similar uses, and to make myself a well-rounded communicator, I should always strive to keep learning and improving.
