There are many key players that I work with in this organization. Firstly, I work under Josie Smith, who is technically my boss. She directs me on what projects to work on and how they should be done, but ultimately gives me creative freedom to carry out the work however I choose. This is a great form of workflow because I am building trust and confidence in my designs and work, and am able to take feedback from Josie and other employees at the state office. Since I am working at the state office, there are many other employees there who manage and run the day-to-day operations of Georgia 4-H. Sometimes I find myself taking on projects and assisting other key employees at the state office, such as the state events team, outreach, and coordination. This past week, in fact, I was helping another employee create a video as a thank you to the College of Family and Consumer Sciences for the involvement in Georgia 4-H programs by serving as judges and volunteering at events. The College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences is also a key player in the operations of Georgia 4-H, because it is run as an extension program of the university. This means that we, as employees, have to adhere to the university's policies, and as an organization, we have to follow the College's branding guidelines. Another group of key players in my role as the PR intern is the local county extension offices and agents. Many local 4-H programs look to the state office to provide promotional materials for state events and large programs. All of these key players have immense stakes in the organization, but above all of them stands the youth that the organization is made to serve. I can attest firsthand that the lessons learned while in Georgia 4-H make youth more successful and prepared for life beyond high school. There are many lessons I can learn from all of these people who invest in the organization, but the main one is that it is good to give back and serve youth. Another lesson I have learned is that it is good to take feedback and get as many eyes on a piece of work as possible before it is published. I am sure that as I get more involved in this position and discover more key players who are involved in Georgia 4-H's success, I will learn more about the importance of having a stake in an organization such as this. All of these people contribute to Georgia 4-H's success by maintaining its programming, serving as volunteers, and coordinating and planning events.
